Getting by train to the Pyrenees

How to get here How to get here

TGV Fast Trains

TGV is the French fast train Service that can take you, at a speed of 300 km/h, to more than 230 French destinations and beyond. TGV is well connected to a large network of European fast trains like Eurostar, Thalys, Artesia Elipsos etc.

These fast trains are offering good value fares to compete with the cheap airlines. This combination of speed and low fares are making rail travelling a good option to come to the French Pyrenees. Our nearest main SNCF (French national railway company) train station is Pau which is conveniently serviced by TGV!

For more information visit the TGV website

Eurostar, TGV arrive near Fountains Of Escot

Pau Station

Pau station offers direct services with Bordeaux, Paris, Toulouse, Ventimiglia, Geneva and Bayonne.

Once you arrive to Pau station you could rent a car there or continue your journey to the Fountains Of Escot by public transport.

There is a dedicated train service from Pau to Oloron Sainte-Marie. At Pau change platform and take the SNCF train to Oloron (35 min).

Oloron Station

At Oloron Sainte-Marie there is a SNCF bus shuttle, just outside the station, that follows the RN 134 international road all the way up the valley to Canfranc (on the Spanish border). Obviously don’t go all the way to Canfranc, but get off at the viaduct d’Escot which is just before the property. (If you ask nicely it might stop just outside the property).

Oloron to Fountains Of Escot is approximately 15 min. We have a large sign, on the right hand side of the RN 134, indicating the entrance to Fountains Of Escot.

Eurostar from the UK

St-Pancras London

Hello to 186 mph and cheap train fares! With Eurostar and TGV you can reach Fountains Of Escot in less than 10 hours. High speed trains depart regularly from St-Pancras London. Perhaps it’s more convenient for you to travel from Ebbsfleet or Ashford in Kent. Ebbsfleet is a few minutes from junction 2 of the M25 and the Bluewater shopping centre.

It is easy to reach Pau with Eurostar! The typical journey time is 8 hours from London to Pau which allows time to change in Paris.

Paris Change

After just only 2 hours and 20 minutes you will be in Paris «Gare du Nord» station. From here you need to continue your jouney to Pau with the fast TGV. The TGV departs from the «Gare Montparnasse» station. At Gare du Nord take the Metro line 4 to «Montparnasse-Bienvenue» and then walk to Gare Montparnasse or just get a taxi.

At Montparnasse you will find that there are frequent connecting trains to Pau. The journey from Paris takes between 5 to 6 hours.
