Basque Pelota
A game which originated in the Basque country but also very popular in this region.
Almost every village in the Béarn has a fronton (the court).
The game is similar to squash, but is played against just one wall and with wooden bats.
Pelota can be played with bare hands, with wooden rackets or with the chistera (a wicker glove).
A spectacular game played on a 60m long court.

The Fronton at Fountains Of Escot
In our back garden we have our own fronton to play basque pelota.
We have all the required equipment, wooden bats and rubber balls are freely available.
There is also a fronton in our local village of Sarrance where you can play and learn with the locals.
If you would like to watch the professionals playing then there are weekly events and competitions in the vicinity.
For example every Tuesday at Arette, every Wednesday at Mauléon and every Thursday at Laruns.

If tennis is your game then our local town of Oloron is the place to play.
Oloron provides the bigest choice with clay and grass courts (outdoor and indoor).
For example FCO Tennis offers collective lessons for adults, a tennis school, courses, open and house tournaments, and puts at your disposal 8 clay courts and 3 hard courts, including 3 covered, a Club House and cloakrooms.
